We focus on Wellness, Nutrition, Health, and Prevention.
What is health? Health and wellness are not the same. Health is the absence of illness or disease, but Wellness is the optimization of all aspects of your life; your social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, and physical wellbeing. To achieve optimal wellness, preventing illness and maintaining health without illness is key.
What is wellness? How is it different from health? Wellness is not just the absence of illness or disease. It is the optimization of social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, and physical wellbeing. It is reaching your best self. To achieve true wellness, none of the seven aspects of it can be ignored. To ignore one part leads to living a life that is less than your best self.
What exactly is prevention? Prevention describes actions that you can personally take on a daily basis to create wellness. So, what actions can you take to achieve wellness and ultimately prevent disease? There are so many things that you can do including exercise, dietary changes, and other lifestyle changes. Many people believe that they can’t change what’s going to happen to their health because it’s hereditary, handed down to them from their parents. Honestly, most often what’s handed down is eating habits,, exercise habits, or stress habits. To achieve wellness you have to change dietary habits; what’s on the end of your fork! Prevention for you is different than prevention for your parents, siblings, or neighbors!
People talk a lot about the word “nutrition.” So, what is nutrition? Nutrition is the study of how food and drink affect our bodies, our health, and our wellness. Food can either be a good natural medicine for your body, or a slow poison that leads to the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes, autoimmune disease, MS, Alzheimer’s, and even cancer. There’s really no in between. It’s either good for you or bad for you.
